How Acetylene Gas is Produced in Acetylene Plant

Acetylene gas is one of the most used industrial gases in India. It is used along with oxygen which is the reason it is also oxy-acetylene. Many industries prefer to use this fuel gas; however, the gas has got many hazardous properties. It is recommended at the safety measures must be strictly observed at the initial level. There is no denying the importance of safety measures in acetylene gas manufacturing plants. Our acetylene gas systems are equipped with digital devices for monitoring of any spikes in acetylene levels and taking appropriate action to stop any untoward happening. Acetylene in itself is a very efficient fuel gas but combined with oxygen it becomes the best for industrial applications.

However, we strongly advise that while installing an acetylene gas plant you must also get acetylene gas monitoring systems. This is the best equipment for safety of handling acetylene gas at work. It goes without saying that working with acetylene safety must be the top priority. And, our monitoring systems are primarily meant for detection in acetylene gas plants. The systems generates shows a SAFE light signal under normal functioning conditions. If high level of acetylene gas is detected in the room the system gives off a sound alarm to alert you to take appropriate action. Don’t worry, our acetylene and section systems are easy to install, commission, operate and maintain.

Acetylene is a colorless, harmless and odorless gas. However, the gas produced in acetylene gas plant give of garlic-like odor.  Acetylene gas is produced through a reaction of water and calcium carbide. The ignition temperature of acetylene gas is degree Celsius with a flammability range of 2.5%–81% of volume. The fuel gas has specific gravity of 0.9 making it lighter than air (specific gravity of air is 1). It is dissolved in dimethylformamide (DMF) or acetone and supplied through maroon-colored cylinders. The fuel gas is popular because of its reliability and fuel efficiency. Acetylene gas can generate flame temperature of around 3150°C when combined with oxygen and is counted as one of the hottest fuel gases.
